In its latest report, the NDRRMC added that 20 domestic and one international flights were canceled in Western and Central Visayas but 12 of the domestic flights already resumed.

Kanlaon Volcano’s activity affected 2,088 people or 605 families in Western and Central Visayas, the NDRRMC said.

Kanlaon Volcano’s activity decreased based on the latest bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) on Thursday.

From 12 a.m. on Wednesday to 12 a.m. on Thursday, PHIVOLCS recorded 27 volcanic earthquakes over Kanlaon Volcano.

A voluminous emission of plumes of up to 1,500 meters tall were observed from the volcano, drifting northwest, southeast, and southwest.

The volcano also emitted 3,464 tonnes of sulfur dioxide, according to PHIVOLCS.

On June 3, Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island had a phreatic eruption emitting plumes that rose to 5,000 meters. Alert Level 2 was raised over the volcano, which means “increased unrest.”
