3 persons of interest in Bukidnon shooting incident identified —PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said three persons of interest have been identified in the shooting incident that disrupted the visit of presidential candidate Leody de Guzman in Quezon, Bukidnon.

"Mayroon na tayong 3 person of interests at hinihintay na lang namin yung mga witness [We already have three persons of interest and we are just waiting for the statement of the witnesses]," PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a radio interview.

According to Fajardo, a police forensics team visited and processed the plantation where the shooting incident happened on April 19.

She said the police confiscated some firearms from the security personnel of the property including eight shotguns, two 9 mm pistols, and a .38 caliber.

These firearms will be subject to gunpowder residue examination to determine if they were used, according to Fajardo.

The April 19 shooting incident marred the visit of de Guzman, a labor leader, to Bukidnon where he discussed alleged land grabbing with members of the Manobo-Pulangiyon community.

De Guzman was not hurt during the incident.

Fajardo said the incident stemmed from a legal matter between the indigenous people and a corporation. —KBK, GMA News
