NBI: Chinese nabbed in Pasay for illegal medical practice
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday announced that its operatives have arrested a Chinese man in an entrapment operation in Pasay City over the alleged illegal practice of medicine.
According to the NBI, operatives of its Metro Manila regional office collared him on December 3 for offering medical services to other Chinese despite lacking a permit to operate.
The NBI said he is also not a licensed physician, nurse, or medical technologist.
The bureau obtained a certificate from the Department of Health (DOH) that shows that his clinic is not licensed to operate, and does not have a pending application for a license.
Undercover agents later found that his clinic in Pasay has been closed down. Despite this, they found that he and his cohorts were still offering services through a messaging application.
Following the arrest, authorities recovered his passport and driver's license, as well as Chinese medicines and medical equipment.
He was presented for inquest before Pasay prosecutors for violation of the Medical Act of 1959 and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
