La Salle conquers FEU with straight sets win in Game 1
The DLSU Lady Spikers took Game 1 of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals after defeating the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 29-27 25-21 25-22, on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The straight sets victory came after the two squads figured in five-set sagas in the elimination round.
This time, La Salle crawled to a 29-27 first set victory after forcing the Lady Tams to commit 17 miscues.
In the second set, the two teams were knotted at 15-all, before the Lady Spikers uncorked a 6-2 run. A May Luna attack and a Michelle Cobb ace finished the set to give DLSU a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Tams looked to take the third set quickly, as Heather Guino-o anchored an early run for an 8-3 FEU lead.
Luna, however, helped the defending champions with key service aces, giving DLSU a 16-15 lead midway.
Errors continued to doom the Morayta-based squad in the endgame, giving La Salle the victory. — DVM, GMA News
