What Khabib Nurmagomedov told Dana White after UFC 257 main event

Khabib Nurmagomedov seems more uninterested than ever to return to the cage after what transpired at UFC 257 last Sunday at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

In the main event, ex-UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier scored his biggest win to date, beating former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor by way of second-round knockout.

Nurmagomedov, who announced a surprise retirement after he defeated Justin Gaethje last October, has been on the lookout for a worthy opponent that could lure him back to the cage.

He previously defeated both Poirier and McGregor via submission and now more than ever feels like there is no more reason to fight again.

“He said to me, ‘Dana, be honest with yourself, I’m so many levels above these guys. I beat these guys. But it doesn’t sound very positive so we’ll see,'” UFC president Dana White revealed.

Despite his retirement, the UFC has refused to strip Nurmagomedov of his UFC lightweight world title as White continues to convince the Russian to fight again.

While the rest of the top dog in the division awaits their shot at the title, White made it clear that it is not Nurmagomedov who refuses to relinquish the title.

‘But what I said before, he won’t hold the division up.” — BM, GMA News
