V-League: Rachel Ann Daquis named MVP, Alyssa Valdez is Best Scorer

Philippine Army's Rachel Ann Daquis bagged the Most Valuable Player award for the Shakey's V-League Open Conference this season.
 
Daquis, who averaged 12.4 points, 8.4 hits, 1.8 blocks, and 2.2 service aces in the conference, also bagged the Best Server award as she led the Lady Troopers to a finals clash with defending champions Cagayan Valley.
 
Daquis is the fifth MVP winner in Army, along with teammates Jovelyn Gonzaga, Ging Balse, Nerissa Bautista, and Michelle Carolino.
 
Alyssa Valdez, who was highly-favored to win the title after winding up monster scoring games to help Ateneo de Manila University sweep the quarterfinals, was named as the Best Scorer in the league.
 
National University's Jaja Santiago won the Best Attacker award, while Philippine Air Force's Maika Ortiz and Rhea Dimaculangan were hailed as the Best Blocker and Best Setter, respectively.
 
Shiela Pineda of Cagayan Valley received the Best Digger award, and PLDT Home Telpad libero Lizlee Ann Gata-Pantone nabbed the Best Receiver to complete the individual awards. — JST, GMA News
