Shakey’s V-League opens sixth season

MANILA, Philippines – The Shakey’s V-League kicks off its sixth season Sunday featuring last conference’s finalists and two of the league’s toughest teams in an exciting doubleheader at the Flying-V Fil-Oil Arena (formerly The Arena) in San Juan City. No less than US Ambassador Kristie Kenney will grace the opening ceremony and will be the guest speaker. Four-time NCAA champion San Sebastian College tries to continue its mastery over University of Santo Tomas when they battle the Tigresses at 4:00 p.m. Ateneo opens up the league against Adamson at 2:00 p.m. San Sebastian swept UST in last season’s conference finals to end its title drought in the V-League. The first conference will follow a single round robin elimination format with the top four teams advancing to the quarterfinal round.
