What's next for Pacquiao? 'Back to my job as a public servant'
Manny Pacquiao is ready to go back to public service after his seventh-round technical knockout win against Argentinian boxer Lucas Matthysse.
In his post-match interview, Pacquiao said he has yet to pick who he will fight next. Instead, he is focused on going back to the country and resume his job as a senator.
"That's another story or another discussion. Right now, I'm happy to go back to my country and to celebrate the victory with my fellow countrymen and of course, to do my job as a public servant," he said.
Pacquiao dedicated his win to the Filipino people, while thanking and praising President Rodrigo Duterte inside the ring as he was being cheered by the crowd.
The Filipino fighter said he was surprised that he was able to knock the fierce Argentinian fighter down.
Pacquiao sent Matthysse to the canvass during the third, fifth and finally on the seventh round.
"I'm surprised because Matthysse was a very tough opponent and I knocked him down. So that's a bonus for being focused in the fight," he said.
Pacquiao likewise thanked his team, whom he said did a good job during the training.
"We did a good job in my team. We did a good job in training. We're not pushing hard. We controlled ourselves in the training but it's heavy training," he said.
"We did a good job. Thank you. Thanks to all my team who worked hard in this fight," he added.
Aside from going back to public service, Pacquiao also said he would find some time to relax after his match.
