Pinoy boxer Ancajas arrives in PHL after victory over Mexican foe

Days after triumphantly defending his IBF world super flyweight title in the United States, Jerwin Ancajas returned to the Philippines on Wednesday morning.

According to a Balitanghali report, the plane carrying Ancajas landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 6 a.m. The report said the boxer was planning to proceed to his residence in Cavite to take some rest.

Ancajas defeated Mexican Israel Gonzalez via technical knockout last Saturday night (Sunday morning PHL time) at Bank of America Center in Corpus Christi in Texas.

The win was Ancajas' 16th straight victory with 15 of them by stoppage. He improved his record to 29-1-1 (20 KOs) while Gonzalez fell to 21-2 (8 KOs). — Anna Felicia Bajo/MDM, GMA News
