SBP President confirms Jordan Clarkson is officially cleared by the NBA to join the Asian Games

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas President Al Panlilio took to Twitter to say Clevand Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson has been “officially cleared” by the NBA to join the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia.

“Jordan Clarkson has officially been cleared by the NBA to join the Asian games. Thank you NBA! Thank you Mark Tatum! Thank you POC! Laban Pilipinas! Puso!” He wrote enthusiastically.

The news spread like wildfire yesterday when the Pihilippines’ chef de mission to the Games Richard Gomez announced the Fil-Am basketball superstar got clearance to suit up for the Philippine team.

Clarkson also took to Facebook to express gratitude for the reversal of the decision.

On Sunday, the NBA issued a statement saying Clarkson cannot play the Asian Games as the  competition isn’t in the list for which NBA players are allowed to participate in.
