No replacements yet eyed for 10 suspended Gilas players

Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas currently does not have a list of possible replacements for 10 of its suspended players as it gears to face Iran next, following the brawl-marred FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers held in Bulacan earlier this month.

The following players will be suspended for varying number of games:

  • Calvin Abueva (6 games, due also to prior unsportsmanlike behavior in a FIBA competition)
  • Roger Pogoy, Carl Cruz and Jio Jalalon (5 games each);
  • Terence Romeo, Jayson Castro William, Andray Blatche and Jeth Rosario (3 games each);
  • Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright (1 game each);

SBP President Al Panlilio clarified, however, that the suspensions will only affect the 2019 Asian Qualifiers, and not PBA games.

Originally, Gilas was also sanctioned to play three of its next home games closed door, but the decision was modified to limit the closed door game to just one. — LA, GMA News
