Aldin Ayo inks ‘six-year’ deal as UST Tigers mentor — Varsitarian

Aldin Ayo has confirmed his move to the University of Santo Tomas with a "six-year" deal as chief tactician of the Growling Tigers expected to be announced soon.

A tweet from The Varsitarian, official student publication of UST, confirms the entry of Ayo and his "mayhem" style of defense to España.

Ayo said the UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics will announce his formal appointment as head coach on January 11.

The development came after news of Ayo’s departure from the De La Salle Green Archers broke, citing a “change of heart” just days after he committed to stay with the Taft-based squad.

On Tuesday, Ayo explained that he had “differences” with the DLSU management in terms of their handling of the team.

Ayo led the Green Archers to a UAAP championship during his first year as head coach in 2016. They, however, failed to defend their title against the Ateneo Blue Eagles in Season 80.

Ayo will replace Boy Sablan at the helm of the Growling Tigers, who closed out the season at the cellar in eighth place.

Meanwhile, DLSU has announced the appointment of Louie Gonzales as the Archers’ new head coach. — RSJ, GMA News
