PHL to host 2023 FIBA World Cup —Manny Pangilinan
The Philippines on Saturday won the bid to co-host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
FIBA Central Board member Manuel V. Pangilinan announced the news on Twitter.

Pangilinan made the announcement after the presentation of the Philippines to co-host the world cup with Japan and Indonesia.
FIBA also announced the winning bid of the three countries in its Twitter account.

Argentina and Uruguay had also applied to host the 2023 tournament.
On FIBA's website, the Philippines/Japan/Indonesia group said their bid "offers FIBA an exciting opportunity to bring the sport's pinnacle event to the fastest growing region in the world, where our combined population of 500 million are ready to embrace the sport of basketball, where we will work with FIBA to realize the sport's vision of making basketball the most popular sports community - to have more people playing in more places, more often."
The Philippines last vied to host the 2019 edition of the top basketball event, losing out in the final vote to China. —ALG, GMA News
