Why Manny Pacquiao is rooting for the Warriors in the NBA finals

Even Manny Pacquiao has chosen his side in the NBA finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

 

The Filipino ring icon is rooting for the Warriors led by Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry to beat the LeBron James-led Cavs.

 

"Pilipinong-Pilipino ang dating ng Warriors, especially Curry," Pacquiao said in a report by veteran journalist Eddie Alinea on PhilBoxing.com. 

 

"Wala siyang kayabang-yabang, simpleng-simple lang kahit na siya ang tinanghal na season MVP of the world's biggest pro-league." 

 

Pacquiao, who moonlights as the playing coach of the Kia Carnival in the PBA, has links to the Curry, who sent him an autographed jersey a few months ago. The NBA star also took time to meet Pacquiao's sons Jimuel and Michael during the boys' visit to the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

 

 

"I appreciate that gesture. Napakabait niya. Parang Pilipino talaga," said Pacquiao. "Binigyan pa nga niya ako ng playing uniform niya." —JST, GMA News
