Maging Akin ends on top, Magdusa Ka debuts at No. 1

The afternoon soap Maging Akin Ka Lamang ended its run last Friday, May 9, with 23.4 percent to lead all daytime programs. This was replaced by another Sine Novela titled Magdusa Ka, starring the trio of Dennis Trillo, Iwa Moto, and Katrina Halili as the lead heroine. Its pilot episode raked in 24.3 percent rating to top the daytime race yesterday, May 12. Magdusa Ka now holds the record of the highest pilot for a Sine Novela. Meanwhile, two other afternoon soaps of GMA-7 are in a neck-to-neck race for the second and third place. Daisy Siete and Kaputol ng Isang Awit tied at second place last Friday with identical 21.1 percent rating. Kaputol ng Isang Awit, however, broke away from the tie Monday night to grab second place with 23.9 percent while Daisy Siete settled for No. 3 with 23.6 percent. The longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga! placed third and fourth Friday and Monday. In the primetime race, GMA-7's Dyesebel, Joaquin Bordado, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, 24 Oras, and ABS-CBN's The Singing Bee were untouchables at their first to fifth places on both Friday and Monday nights. Saturday (May 10) viewing was ruled by Eat Bulaga! and Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho while Takeshi's Castle and Mel & Joey dominated Sunday (May 11) viewing. It is interesting to note that ASAP '08 rated better versus SOP last Sunday. This is also the case for Your Song against Tasya Fantasya. However, Showbiz Central once again beat rival The Buzz in the battle of showbiz talk shows.
