Kris says endorsement contracts prevented marriage with Herbert
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino on Saturday spoke candidly of her past relationship with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and revealed that one reason they did not end up together was because of the penalty clauses in her "multinational" endorsements.
"And I think beyond that, one is, to be perfectly honest talaga, several contracts have provisions that if you end up with an elected official, may penalty from the multinationals because of the money trail. It will appear that they are paying somebody in elective office," Kris explained.
"Dati kasi nu'ng kay Noy, okay 'yun kasi hindi conjugal eh. Magkapatid kami pero we shared nothing. Pero ito, if we (me and Herbert) end up together, or even if I announced na, let's say engaged, soli. At hindi lang soli ah. Soli ng pera ko na binayad sa akin, soli ng production cost and may penalty clause pa du'n sa mawawala sa kanila."
She added that she had several people working for her, and their jobs would be in jeopardy if she ended up owing the multinationals.
"Yes may computation ako kasi production cost eh. Ako tapos lost air time. Because they buy it for the year. So sabi ko, 'Oh my God ilang Chowking ang ibebenta ko para mabayaran ang penalty. Kaya that's why, let's just be friends," Kris continued.
Not ready
Aquino recently posted an Instagram throwback photo of her and Bautista in Rome, which reminded her of their "weird & special friendship."
"I think you will always appreciate a person who was there when you're at your lowest. But also, that doesn't erase the fact that he also broke my heart. I'm being honest, 'di ba? That's why sinasabi ko, mas okay nang friends kami," she explained.
Kris then opined that Herbert may not be ready for marriage. "Alam mo I don't think he'll ever be ready. He's turning 50 and I think when you've reached 50 and you've never gotten married, I honestly don't think you're ever gonna be married."
The host-actress added that in way, the QC Mayor and her brother, Noynoy Aquino, who also never married, had similar attitudes towards marriage.
"How old is my brother? Hello?! Perfect example! He is turning 58. Noy will be 58, never kinasal. So alam na alam mo na. Parang in my mind lang naman na, may kapatid ka nang ganiyan, huwag ka nang mag-ilusyon dahil alam mo na ganiyan 'yung ugali, hindi talaga 'yan magpapakasal." — DVM, GMA News
