Actor Romeo Vasquez passes away at 78
Veteran actor Romeo "Bobby" Vasquez passed away in Los Angeles on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila). He was 78.
His sister, Maria Luisa Sumilang Salvatierra said the actor, Roberto Sumilang in real life, died at 10:33 a.m.
Vasquez, who just celebrated his 78th birthday last April 9, starred in numerous films with former wife, Amalia Fuentes: "Lydia" (1956), "Pretty Boy" (1957), and "Angelo" (1970).
He was known for his work in "Sino ang Maysala?" (1957), "Kilabot Sa Makiling" (1959), "Isinakdal ko ang aking ama" (1960), "Dugo sa aking kamay" (1961), "Maruja" (1967), "Nag-aapoy na damdamin" (1976), "Bawal na Pag-ibig" (1977), "Dalawang Pugad, Isang Ibon" (1977), "Diego Rival" (1977), "Kailangan Kita? (1978), and "Gusto kita, Mahal mo siya" (1979).
Vasquez was married to actress Amalia Fuentes, mother of late actress Liezl Martinez.
Liezl has three children with actor Albert Martinez - Alyanna, Alfonso and Alyssa.
