Gabby Concepcion, Sunshine Dizon, Ryza Cenon to star in new afternoon drama

A new Kapuso afternoon drama is in the works, starring some of the biggest names in showbiz.

Gabby Concepcion, Sunshine Dizon, and Ryza Cenon will be working together to form a love triangle with a huge helping of jealousy, misunderstandings, as well as second chances.

Ryza, who will be playing the third party in the series, said that she will attempt to break the stereotype attached to such characters.

"Pag sinabing 'kabit'...ganoon lang ang itsura. So ibahin natin yung pagiging kabit,'" she said, after the series' story conference.

Dream come true

Despite vowing to stay away from heavy drama roles for the time being, Gabby was quick to join the new series.

He initially thought it was going to be a comedy series, but he became interested in the storyline.

The veteran actor also saw it as his chance to fulfill his lifelong dream to become a pilot -- the profession of his character in the teleserye.

"Ito ang first time na gaganapin ko ang isang piloto. Sa totoo lang...pangarap ko bago pa magshow business, pangarap ko ang maging piloto."

"Kahit hindi ako naging piloto sa tunay na buhay, ay sa tunay na buhay naman gagampanan ang maging piloto," he added.

Firsts

While most of the cast members are known for taking up drama roles, the new teleserye still boasts of a bunch of firsts.

Gabby said this is the first time he will be working with StarStruck survivors Rich Asuncion and Mike Tan.

Director Laurice Guillen also noted that it is her first time to work with Sunshine and other cast members.

Sunshine, meanwhile, saw it as a return to her 'niche.'

"It's always good to be back on that [afternoon] spot. Nagsimula ako sa hapon, yung niche ko nasa hapon din talaga. Yung mga mommies na naiiwan sa bahay, si Ate, so it's good to be back," she said. — BAP, GMA News
