Maine Mendoza voted Ultimate Asian Sweetheart of 2018

After a month-long rigorous voting by fans from different parts of Asia, Phenomenal star Maine Mendoza has emerged as the Ultimate Asian Sweetheart of 2018.

The online poll Starmometer made its announcement on Thursday. Maine bested other TV series stars, K-pop artists, sports personalities, models, beauty queens and movie actresses, garnering a total of 1,485,312 votes in the semi-finals and 757,430 votes in the finals.

The online polls were conducted by fans via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the Starmometer website.

Second to the list is Thailand's Urassaya Sperbund, who got 401,867 votes in the final polls. She stars in the hit movie "Brother of the Year."

Maine and Urassaya were followed by Bollywood actress Sanaya Irani of India (third), South Korea's Jennie Kim (fourth) and China's Shen Yue (fifth).

Before becoming a noontime superstar as Yaya Dub, Maine Mendoza gained renown online for her Dubsmash videos.

She was then paired with Alden Richards in the Kapuso series "Destined to be Yours" as well as in the movies "My Bebe Love" and "Imagine You and Me." — Jamil Santos / AT, GMA News
