Glaiza De Castro is overflowing with gratitude as ‘Liway’ receives overwhelming support

The main theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines erupted in applause as the credits for "Liway" rolled. Kapuso actor Glaiza De Castro, who played the titular role, captured the moment on video and expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support.

In a Balitanghali report on Thursday, Glaiza said that she is thankful for the opportunity to step into Commander Liway's shoes.

"Liway" is based on the relationship between Director Dakip "Kip" Oebanda and his mother Commander Liway, born Cecilia Flores-Oebanda. As a young boy, the director lived in a prison camp and his mother entertained him with stories of a diwata fighting the Marcos dictatorship.

Co-star Dominic Roco said that he believes Glaiza deserves to win the Best Actress award at Cinemalaya festival as she was able to capture the love the real Liway had for her son as she sang songs to protect him from the trauma of Martial Law. — Aya Tantiangco/LA, GMA News
