Veteran actor Bernardo Bernado asks for prayers on his birthday, reveals there is a tumor in his pancreas

For his birthday month, veteran actor Bernardo Bernardo on Facebook Friday, asked for prayers as he reveals there’s a tumor in his pancreas.

“Given my history of clinical depression and anxiety attacks coupled with a potentially life-threatening growth in my pancreas, it feels like it’s about time to call for support from FB Prayer Warriors,” read a portion of his status update. He continued:

“Last month, after a series of lab tests (including an ultrasound and CT Scan), my medical specialist friends at the UST hospital…shared their findings: (in layman’s terms) My pancreas is swollen because of a tumor possibly malignant, growing in the head of the pancreas. AS it grows, it begins to press on the bile duct and the pancreatic duct and with the increasing pressure, the ducts eventually gen pinched off.”

He shares he’s already lost a lot of weight “at an alarming rate in such a short span of time”, a result of him losing his appetite for food.

He is scheduled for another round of tests, procedures where diagnosis and treatment can take place.

“But cameras are kind. They do not capture the very real pain and fear of the unknown, the hidden costs of this medical journey that has put me in Controlled Panic Mode. I know that in order to continue to fight this batter – I need Courage. I need Strength. I need Clarity of Mind,” he continued.

Friends and colleagues in theater and acting are already moving to stage various fund raisers, the first of which will be a dinner on January 14, 6pm at Salu Restaurant.  They’re looking to fill Salu with about 200 guests, who can also enjoy a little entertainment courtesy of a few friends.
