Direk Soxie Topacio passes away

Theater, film and television director and actor Soxie Topacio has passed away on Friday night at age 65 after succumbing to lung cancer.

His niece Zarah Topacio confirmed the news to GMA News' Aubrey Carampel.

Topacio, who had been undergoing radiation therapy, passed away at 8:55 p.m. His wake will start on Saturday at St. Peter's Chapel in Quezon Avenue.

He had a prolific showbiz career, directing numerous films and television shows, most recently "Dear Uge" on GMA-7. —JST, GMA News
