Michael V., Kapuso shows nominated for Asian Television Awards

Some faces familiar to Kapuso viewers are among the nominees at the 21st Asian Television Awards.

Michael V.  has once again been nominated for "Best Comedy Performance" for his role in "Pepito Manaloto." Joining him are Bernice Liu, Carla Dunareanu, Alaric Tay, and Vernetta Lopez, who were all nominated for Singapore-based projects. 

"Reel Time: Isinulat sa Tubig (Forgotten Children of the Waves)," meanwhile, was nominated in the Best Social Awareness Programme while "Bubble Gang" drew a nomination for Best Comedy Programme.

But homegrown shows aren't the only Kapuso nominees in the field.

"Descendants of the Sun" starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo as Yoo Si Jin and Kang Mo Yeon respectively, has been nominated in the "Best Drama Series." Produced by Korea's KBS, the series aired on GMA Network earlier this year.

Vying for the Best Drama trophy are Bingit 3, Downtown Rocket, Halfworlds, Marriage Contract, The Dream Makers 2, The Hush, and The Journey: Our Homeland.

Yet another Kapuso face, Alden Richards, will be among the hosts of the event, joining Adrian Pang, Stephanie Carrington, and Baki Zainal will be hosting the “live” televised segment.

The Asian Television Awards 2016 will take place at Suntec City Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 2, 2016. The second day of the awards ceremony will be broadcast across Asia via terrestrial, cable and digital platforms.
