Paeng weakens slightly; fair conditions expected across the PHL
Typhoon Paeng (international name Trami) weakened slightly even as it continued to inch its way northwards over the Philippine Sea, weather service PAGASA reported in Wednesday morning forecast.
At 3 a.m., Paeng was 725 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, with 170 kilometer per hour winds and gusts of up to 210 kph.
While Paeng was too far away to affect the country, sea conditions over Luzon's and Samar Island's northern and eastern seaboards would be rough to very rough due to the typhoon, and thus dangerous for fisherfolk and small seacraft.
PAGASA predicted that Paeng would bring light to at times moderate rain over northern Luzon by Friday, after which it would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility and head for southern Japan by Saturday.
Meanwhile, conditions across the country on Wednesday would be generally fair, except for some afternoon or evening localized thunderstorms. — DVM, GMA News
