Tropical depression east of Southern Luzon intensifies, will be named Paeng

The tropical depression spotted east of Southern Luzon has intensified into a tropical storm, PAGASA said on Saturday.

According to PAGASA's 11 a.m. update, the storm with an international name of Trami was located at 2,060 kms east of Central Luzon. 

It will be called Paeng when it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday.

PAGASA also forecasted that Paeng may intensify into a typhoon and may affect Batanes up to the Babuyan Group of Islands around September 28, Friday.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph on Saturday.
