Monsoon rains continue over Luzon, Visayas areas
Weather service PAGASA reported in a Wednesday morning forecast that a low-pressure area over the Philippine Sea and Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (formerly Tropical Storm Henry) would enhance the southwest monsoon.
The LPA was 540 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan at 3 a.m., while TS Son-Tinh was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility—1,115 kms west of extreme northern Luzon.
The southwest monsoon, enhanced by these two weather systems, would be responsible for the light to occasionally heavy rain over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Cagayan Valley Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.
The southwest monsoon would also bring cloudy conditions accompanied with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the the Bicol Region and the entire Visayas.
Mindanao could meanwhile expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Winds would be strong to gale force from the southwest over the western sections of Central and southern Luzon, where coastal waters would be rough to very rough.
Over the rest of Luzon, winds would be moderate to strong from the southwest with surrounding sea conditions expected to be from moderate to rough.
Finally, winds over the Visayas and Mindanao would be moderate to strong from the south to southwest with moderate to rough coastal waters. — DVM/KG, GMA News
