Signal No. 1 remains over 4 areas, Habagat to bring rain over NCR

Tropical Depression Henry has continued to move westward towards extreme Northern Luzon, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Monday afternoon.

According to its 2 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA spotted Henry at 300 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Henry was expected to move west at 25 kilometers per hour. It said Henry was expected to pass the vicinity of Babuyan Group of Islands this evening.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains hoisted in the following areas where occasional rains with gusty winds are expected:

  • Batanes
  • Northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands
  • Northern portion of Apayao
  • Northern portion of Ilocos Norte

PAGASA warned that the southwest monsoon (habagat) would continue to bring rains in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro provinces, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms were also expected over the rest of Luzon, PAGASA added. Residents were advised to continue monitoring updates as regards possible flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts were advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas under Signal No. 1 and the western seaboard of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching tropical fepression and the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA earlier said that Henry would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday morning. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
