Scattered rain expected over northern Luzon – PAGASA

The Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Regions would be cloudy with scattered rain due to the northeast monsoon, weather service PAGASA predicted in a Saturday morning forecast.

The Ilocos Region would also be under the influence of the northeast monsoon and would experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain.

The rest of the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers.

Winds would be strong to gale force from the northeast over the northern and eastern sections of northern Luzon, where coastal waters would be rough to very rough.

Over Central Luzon, the rest of northern Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region, winds would be moderate to strong from the northeast to north with moderate to rough seas.

Winds over the rest of the country would be light to moderate from the north to northwest with light to moderate.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area (LPA) that PAGASA had projected would enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday, was, at 3 a.m. on Saturday, 420 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

The LPA was also expected to intensify into a tropical depression sometime on Saturday, and make landfall somewhere between the southern Visayas and northern Mindanao by early next week. — DVM, GMA News
