LPA turns into Tropical Depression Ramil; Signal No. 1 up over 3 areas
A low pressure area spotted in the Visayas developed into a tropical depression and is expected to bring rainfall in several areas on Wednesday.
According to the 5 a.m. weather bulletin of PAGASA, the eye or center of Tropical Depression Ramil was located 115 kilometers west of Roxas City, Capiz as of 4 a.m.
Ramil has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
The tropical depression is forecast to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains within its 200-kilometer diameter.
"Ramil is expected to traverse the Calamian Group of Island today," PAGASA said.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over:
- Northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands
- Aklan
- Antique
These areas may possibly experience flash floods and landslides.
Residents of Metro Manila, Bicol region, Calabarzon, and the rest of Mimaropa were also advised to be alert for possible flash floods and landslides.
PAGASA warned that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon.
Ramil is expected to be 245 km west of Coron, Palawan on Thursday morning.
By Friday morning, Ramil is forecast to be 120 km north northeast of Pagasa Island in Palawan.
On Saturday, it will be 245 km west northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan, and 655 km west northwest of that island on Sunday.
PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils to take the necessary precaution.
