Tropical Storm Odette slighty intensifies
Tropical Storm Odette has intensified as it continues to traverse northern Cagayan, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin No. 10 issued early Friday morning.
Odette made landfall late Thursday evening.
The center of the storm was estimated within the vicinity of Allacapan town in Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 100 kph as it moves westward at a speed of 24 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
TCWS No. 1, meanwhile, is raised over Isabela, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Benguet.
The estimated amount of rainfall is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm as it is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Friday evening and early morning on Saturday.
PAGASA also warned that sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned were advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 8 a.m. on Friday.
The provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte will experience stormy weather with heavy rains that can cause flooding and/or landslides.
The rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the provinces of Isabela, La Union, and Ilocos Sur will have rains and gusty winds, while Central Luzon, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Ilocos region will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rains with thunderstorms.
Visayas, Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with thunderstorms.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies apart from isolated rainshowers mostly in the afternoon or evening.
The coastal water in the rest of Luzon will be rough to moderate while it would be moderate to occasionally rough for Visayas and Mindanao. —BAP/KG, GMA News
