'Maring' further intensifies, to slam into Quezon this morning —PAGASA
Tropical Depression Maring is expected to make landfall in Mauban, Quezon on Tuesday morning as the cyclone accelerated and further intensified.
In a briefing, PAGASA said the storm was already near the Mauban town area and may hit landmass between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Nikos Peñaranda said that after Maring's landfall, it may directly affect Metro Manila in the afternoon.
Peñaranda said torrential rains and strong winds may be felt in the capital region as Maring crosses Quezon.
Areas that may also be directly affect by the cyclone were Rizal, Bulacan and Pampanga provinces.
The cyclone has intensified, packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph.
It was moving west at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
Twenty-one areas have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 including:
