8 features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that people can't stop talking about

After the mess that was the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung seems to be back with a vengeance with the Galaxy Note 8. The new model has all the bells and whistles that have fans and even non-fans excited for its release. In the Philippines, that will be on September 29.

In the Philippines, the Galaxy Note 8 is available in two colors: Midnight Black or Maple Gold.
In the Philippines, the Galaxy Note 8 is available in two colors: Midnight Black or Maple Gold.

1. It's water and dust resistant. It has a score of IP68 in terms of water resistance, which is the highest score yet any mobile device has achieved. This means you can submerge the phone for about 30 minutes in 1.5m-deep fresh water and it should be fine — including the S Pen, which is supposed to have a finer tip. Speaking of the S Pen...

2. The S Pen has become more intelligent. As soon as you remove the S Pen from its cradle, users can pin and edit notes as well as expand up to 100 pages. It also affords users easy language translation and currency conversion. Just hover the sentence or the figure and it should do the translating and conversion for you.

3. Two 12MP rear cameras. Both are equipped with Optical Image Stabilization, Live Focus, and adjustable blur for professional-looking images.

4. It comes with Bixby. Bixby is the personal assistant Samsung affords its users. When it first made its appearance on the S8, many likened and called it Siri's frenemy.  Well, the Note 8 will feature Bixby, too, who will try and understand your communication style so you can speak to him/her in secret code.

5. Wireless charging. It comes with a Quick Charge 2.0-compatible charger, allowing users to bid wires goodbye.

6. Tighter security. To unlock your phone, fingerprint or iris scanning is required. Your personal and professional data are kept inside a security folder. If these don't make you feel secure, we don't know what would.

7. It has the biggest screen display yet. Well, among Note devices that is. But despite having 6.3 inches of QUAD HD and Super AMOLED display, the Note 8 still looks comfortable in one hand.

8. App Pair Feature. This is a feature that allows users to customize a pair of apps and then launch them simultaneously. Why anybody would want to do that, we don't know. But it's good to know the Note 8 is capable in case the need arises.

The Galaxy Note 8 has been made available for pre-order around the world. According to Samsung's mobile chief DJ Koh, pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 8 is the highest among Note devices.

Pre-order in the Philippines is until September 17 and comes with AKG speakers worth P7,990. Swing by Samsung Experience stores, Abenson, Argomall, through respective telco companies or on Lazada to pre-order. — LA, GMA News
