Robotic arm mimics master Japanese swordsman
In yet another step towards the robot uprising, the robotic manufacturing arm MOTOMAN-MH24 can now wield a katana with astounding precision and accuracy.
During the “Yaskawa Bushido Project,” engineers captured swordmaster Isao Machii’s movements in 3D and programmed industrial robot MOTOMAN-MH24 to replicate them.
Machii is an Iaijutsu martial artist with three Guiness world records to his name. He previously was able to cut a 6 mm BB gun pellet in half.
