Heads up! There's going to be a meteor shower on April 23

Attention Astrophiles, a meteor shower is happening tomorrow!

According to a Unang Balita report on Monday, a Pi Puppid Meteor Shower will occur on Tuesday, April 23.

PAGASA said the meteor shower can be observed after sunset and is expected to peak at around 8:00 p.m. “so the best display might be seen before the radiant sets on April 23."

The waxing gibbous moon is also expected to affect the observation of the meteor shower, PAGASA added.

The Pi-Puppids meteor shower is an annual meteor shower that occurs from April 15 to April 28 every year. Its peak activity is expected on April 23.

This meteor shower is named after its radiant point in the constellation Puppis, which is the area of the sky from which the meteors appear to originate.

The Pi-Puppids are not one of the most well-known meteor showers, and they typically produce a relatively low number of meteors per hour compared to some other showers. However, under optimal conditions and away from light pollution, observers may still be able to see a few meteors per hour during the peak of the shower.
