MAGMA BOMB, VOLCANIC LIGHTNING:

Historical record of Mayon Volcano's eruptions since 1616

Historical record from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) shows that Mayon Volcano has erupted 51 times from 1616 to 2014 and more than 1,350 people died in these events.

The "most destructive eruption" happened in 1818, which brought heavy damage to almost half of Albay province, according to PHIVOLCS.

During the eruption, the volcano produced volcanic lightning and volcanic bombs, or lumps of magma thrown up into the air during the eruption.
