Airing Date: February 6, 2016

English version:
Just how much would you be willing to gamble?
In a community in Bagong Silang, Caloocan, Flordeliza Padilla contemplates this question every day of her life. A self-confessed sugarol (gambler), she spends her mornings, afternoons and evenings playing games and betting using the money that her partner sends for their family. She doesn’t really mind whatever game is on: she can play bingo, dice games, a multitude of card games and even the coin game “kara-krus”.
The lure of winning is just so irresistible for Flordeliza that she sometimes loses track of her young children, Charlie and Clarisse. Charlie spends his day scavenging at nearby communities. Unschooled at the age of seven, he understands his mother’s penchant for gambling and appreciates how she manages to provide for them. Clarisse, at age four, fondly refers to their mother’s gambling as a way to “grow” their money.
Charlie and Clarisse have nothing but high hopes for their mother. But what is it that Flordeliza ultimately wagers in gambling?
This Saturday on I-Witness, Kara David follows a family living with gambling. Watch “Sugarol (Gambler)” on GMA 7 this February 6, 2016 after Celebrity Bluff. For comments, tweet Kara David, @karadavid and I-Witness, @IWitnessGMA.
