Images of encounters with His Holiness Pope Francis are the focus of a University of Santo Tomas (UST) coffeetable book titled “Pope Francis @ UST: Bringing Christ to the Youth” that documents his historic visit to the Pontifical University. It will be launched on June 17 at 10:30 a.m.

The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto, D.D. will be the event’s guest of honor with UST Rector Very Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P., leading the launch at the Blessed Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building, UST.

The 160-page papal memorabilia, which features pictures mostly taken by Thomasian photographers, begins with images captured at the dawn of January 18, when volunteers gathered for their respective tasks in preparation for the arrival of the pope. It concludes with Pope Francis waving goodbye to the UST crowd in the midst of rain.

As an expression of thanks for the success of the “Encounter with the Youth” at UST and as a response to the messages of Pope Francis, the University will make a special announcement during the event.

UST Rector Rev. Fr. Dagohoy, O.P. wrote the foreword and UST Secretary General and the coffeetable book’s editor in chief Rev. Fr. Winston F. Cabading, O.P., the introduction.

Meanwhile, UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies Director Prof. Emeritus Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, Ph.D., the coffeetable book’s consultant for editorial content, penned a brief description of the publication.

The editorial team was led by a board composed of Assoc. Prof. Giovanna V. Fontanilla, Assoc. Prof. Augusto Antonio A. Aguila, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Imelda A. Dakis, M.D., Assoc. Prof. Ralph Galán, and Asst. Prof. Virginia A. Sembrano.

Multi-awarded graphic artist Dopy Doplon served as art director.

Other members of the staff were Kennett Roger T. Garcia and Roberto Villegas, Jr., artists; Alexis Ailex C. Villamor, Jr., writer; and Reinhel Angelo E. Sicat, researcher.

Photographers include Fr. Edgardo D. Alaurin, O.P., John Paul Aliazas, Marc Henrich Go, Jericson Jabar, Paul Quiambao, Romeo Remalante, Lenard Silverio, and professional Thomasian lensman Noli Yamsuan. Cover photo is by Go.
