Possible light rain may fall over Metro Manila during Pope Francis' departure to Rome, state weather agency PAGASA said early Monday.

Light to moderate rain is seen over Metro Manila for the day, PAGASA forecaster Chris Perez said in an interview on dzBB radio.

"Ang Metro Manila magiging maulap, may light to moderate rain," he said.

PAGASA's 5 a.m. outlook for the day said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon "will have cloudy skies with light rain."

On Monday morning, Pope Francis concludes a five-day visit to the Philippines and departs for Rome.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will also experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain.

Also, it said Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with thunderstorms likely over these areas.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the Luzon and northeast to southeast over Visayas and Mindanao with moderate to rough seas.

PAGASA also issued a gale warning over the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon.

Waves in these areas could reach 4.5 meters.

"Fishing boats and other small sea crafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
