When Pope Francis went out of the Apostolic Nunciature Sunday afternoon for his concluding Mass at the Quirino Grandstand, he was on board a jeepney-inspired popemobile. Filipinos liked it, and so did the pontiff.

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle said in a news conference after the Mass that the Pope Francis likes the Pinoy version of the popemobile

"I explained to him that here in the Philippines, the jeepney is the most common way of commute and it is the one used by ordinary people, by simple people.' Then, he said he liked it," the cardinal shared.

"We might send it to him to Rome as a gift of the people,” he joked.

During his five-day visit in the Philippines, Pope Francis used three open popemobiles.

He is scheduled to leave the Philippines for Italy at 10 a.m. on Monday.  — ELR, GMA News
