Pit Señor! Luneta crowd practices Sinulog chants while waiting for Pope
January 18, 2015 1:02pm
Pope Francis' concluding Mass at the Quirino Grandstand on Sunday could have a touch of Sinulog, if the crowds' practices are any indication.

As of 1 p.m. Sunday, radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported the crowds were practicing chants associated with the Sinulog, a feast honoring the Santo Niño (Christ Child).

Among the chants were "Pit Señor!" and "Viva Señor!"

Earlier chants for the Pope during his Philippine visit had included "Viva il Papa, Papa Francesco!"

Despite rain from Tropical Storm Amang (Mekkhala), Filipinos continued to troop to the Quirino Grandstand for the concluding Mass.

Metro Manila is one of the areas under storm signals due to Amang. PAGASA forecaster Alvin Pura said the rain over Manila may last until at least Sunday night.

Earlier in the day, the Pope went to the University of Santo Tomas for his encounter with the youth.

The Pope will end his five-day apostolic and state visit on Monday morning, when he departs at the Villamor Air Base for the Vatican.  Joel Locsin/RSJ/TJD, GMA News
