Pinoy photographer wins bronze in Moscow Int’l Foto Awards
In recognition of his modern take on Filipino sights and visuals, a Filipino photographer received the bronze prize in the Portfolio-Fine Art category in the 2018 iteration of the Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA).
Rommel Lugada, formerly industrial design specialist at the Design Center of the Philippines, won for his portfolio composed of 10 colored and 10 black & white photographs from his travels around the Philippines.
"All composed with natural lighting and mostly chasing with sunlight while exploring other images with shapes, forms, textures, rhythm, patterns, point of view, framing and simplicity in composition," MIFA said of Lugada's photographs on its website.
Prior to MIFA, Lugada received recognition from the International Photography Awards in the Philippines and US, and Tokyo International Foto Awards in 2017.
MIFA winners will have their works showcased in the Best of Show exhibition in Moscow, the main page of their website, and others.
Another Filipino won in the international photography contest in 2017. Jophel Botero Ybiosa's "The Feast of Black Nazarene in Manila" entry won 1st Place Category Winner under the Event category. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
