Suspect in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan massacre nabbed


A suspect in the massacre of a family in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan was arrested Wednesday.

Carmelino Navarro Ibañes of Negros Occidental, 26, single, and a construction worker, was arrested by San Jose del Monte Police at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A witness positively identified Ibañes as the suspect he saw coming out of the crime scene in the early morning of Tuesday.

Police said the suspect, broke down in front of his mother and sisters and admitted to the crime.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Thursday by Victoria Tulad, the police invited a number of persons of interest for questioning on Wednesday. All were allowed to go home except for one who was inconsistent in his statements.

Five people were found dead on Tuesday inside a house in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. They were identified as Auring Dizon, 58; her daughter Estrella Dizon, 28; and Estrella's children Donnie, 11; Ella, 7 and Dexter Jr., 1.

Estrella's husband, security guard Dexter Carlos, discovered the bodies when he walked into his home after his graveyard shift.

The wake for the five victims is being held at the basketball court in Northridge Royal Subdivision in San Jose del Monte, a few meters away from the family home.

According to the police, at least two people were behind the crime.

The suspects may have been high on drugs or under the influence of alcohol when they committed the crime because of the violence of the stabbings.

Estrella bore the most number of stab wounds—45.

Police are continuing their investigation and will subject some items taken from the scene, to DNA examination.

As of posting time, they believe rape is the sole  motive for the crime. —KG/KVD, GMA News
