Two Pinoy poets honored at India poetry festival
Filipino poets Edwin Cordevilla and Dr. Epitacio Tongohan were recognized for their contributions to literature at the recently-concluded India World Poetry Festival.
A report on Balitanghali on Friday said Cordevilla received two awards from the festival held in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, including a lifetime achievement award.
One of the works that earned him the distinctions is the non-traditional epic poem "Ten Thousand Lines Project For World Peace."
Meanwhile Tongohan, also known as Dr. Penpen B. Takipsilim, was honored for his contributions to the program.
He is often referred to as “The Father of Philippine Visual Poetry" and credited with creating “Pentasi B Poetry".
An article on Huffington Post in 2016 identified the literary festival at Hyderabad as a "giant leap" for India-Philippine relations and a way of establishing a stronger connection between the two similar countries. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
