Anti-Marcos group protests outside Libingan ng mga Bayani as Marcos kin celebrate his 101st bday

A group of anti-Marcos protesters on Tuesday marked the 101st anniversary of Ferdinand Marcos' birth with a rally outside the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, where the strongman's remains had been controversially moved after two decades of being interred in Ilocos Norte.

A report by Tina Panganiban Perez on Balitanghali said that members of the Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses and Martial Law (CARMMA) continued to call for justice for the crimes committed during the Marcos regime, as the Marcos family and its allies celebrated his birthday.

Among those in the rally was CARMMA convener and former Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Judy Taguiwalo, who was imprisoned during Martial Law.

She said that the people cannot "move on" from Martial Law without getting justice first, an apparent reference to Marcos' daughter and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos' controversial remark urging the public to "move on" from Martial Law.

The protesters were only able to reach the gate of the Libingan ng mga Bayani because members of the Philippine Army barricaded the gate.

Even several members of the Korean Coast Guard, who wanted to visit the cemetery, were disallowed to enter amid the rally. — Jessica Bartolome/MDM, GMA News
