Lawyer Oliver Lozano, legal counsel of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, passed away early Thursday at age 77 due to a heart attack.
According to a report on Dobol B sa News TV on Friday, a family member said Lozano experienced weakness after undergoing angioplasty or a heart procedure on March 22.
The lawyer was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center on Quezon Avenue on Wednesday evening due to a weak pulse and general weakness.
He passed away at 1:45 a.m. Thursday after a massive heart attack.
Lozano's remains were cremated on Thursday evening at Zen Garden Crematorium in San Mateo, Rizal.
His wake is at Mt. Carmel Shrine Mortuary Chapel in New Manila, Quezon City.
According to Lozano's wife Norma, the Marcos family has already gotten in touch with them and may visit the wake. Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos has sent a sympathy wreath.
Lozano's funeral will be on Sunday afternoon at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.
Apart from representing Marcos, the lawyer is known for filing multiple impeachment complaints against former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
He and his daughter were also indefinitely suspended from practicing law by the Supreme Court due to grave professional misconduct with regards to complaints filed against two retired SC justices.
Recently, Lozano filed a petition seeking the nullification of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno's appointment and refiled the said petition when it was dismissed by the SC. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
