Duterte creates Order of Lapu-Lapu
President Rodrigo Duterte has kept his campaign promise to make Lapu-Lapu a proper hero.
Duterte has issued Executive Order No. 17 creating the Order of Lapu-Lapu, which aims to recognize government workers and private individuals who provide “invaluable or extraordinary service in nation to a campaign or advocacy of the President.”
It was signed on April 7.
The Order of Lapu-Lapu will have three medals.
The Lapu-Lapu Medal is awarded to government workers and private citizens who have significant contribution to the success of an activity related to the campaign or advocacy of the President.
The Kalasag Medal is given to those who lose their lives and/or property as a direct result for participating in activities related to the President’s campaigns and advocacies.
Finally, the Kampilan Medal is bestowed on those who are seriously injured in carrying out activities in connection to issues championed by the President.

Heads of agencies can submit their recommendations.
The President however will confer the Order based on the recommendations of a committee composed of a representative from the Office of the Executive Secretary (chairperson) and two representatives from the Presidential Management Staff.
