LTFRB to issue show cause order vs. 2 bus firms over EDSA accident

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will issue a show cause order to the bus firms involved in the Tuesday morning accident along EDSA, according to dzBB's Alan Gatus' report on Dobol B sa News TV.

The order will be issued on Valenzuela Transport Cooperative and Joycelle Express Inc., the report said, citing LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada.

At least 17 people were hurt in the incident that happened on the southbound lane of EDSA Magallanes in Makati City during morning rush hour on Tuesday.

Lizada said the two firms should explain to the LTFRB why they should not be sanctioned over the accident, which resulted in heavy rush hour traffic on Metro Manila's main thoroughfare.

She said the order will be issued immediately once all LTFRB board members have signed the document.

Initial reports said one of the buses lost control and slammed on the other one. —KBK, GMA News
