Grab says it will crack down on drivers who try to force riders to cancel trips
Grab Philippines over the weekend warned drivers that they may be banned from the platform if they try to force riders to cancel rides.
In a post on his Facebook account, Grab Philippines country manager Brian Cu said the company will be cracking down on unruly drivers on the platform.
"[J]ust so everyone knows, we are taking a harder stance to crack down on this... I do hope our driver partners understand that behavior like this has a ripple effect on the community," he said.
His post comes after several posts circulated online showing conversations where drivers are uncooperative and try to get their riders to cancel the trips.
"Grab does not tolerate this behavior. I will have the team start mining all convos and start suspending drivers that do not meet our standards," Cu said.
"I'd also like to ask my friends and the others reading this to not generalize as majority of our ka-Grab partners are professional and of superb quality," he claimed.
Aside from Cu's remarks, Grab Philippines in a text message to reporters said it has also instructed its drivers to avoid cancelling trips.
Grab sent the following guidelines to its drivers on Saturday afternoon:
Cu appealed, however, to Grab riders to be patient and not cancel on drivers as it takes time for them to reach the pickup points.
"To the patrons of Grab naman, please also do not cancel on drivers. Sometimes it's traffic and it takes a bit of time," he said.
"Please be patient lang a bit during these times," he added. — BM, GMA News
