BSP issues warning: There is no P10,000 banknote

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Friday warned the public about fictitious P10,000 banknotes.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, BSP said it "has not produced and issued a 10,000-Piso NGC [New Generation Currency] banknote."

It said the only NGC banknotes currently in circulation are in six denominations: P1,000; P500; P200; P100; P50; and P20.

"The forgery of Philippine banknotes as well as the use or possession of the same are punishable under the law," BSP said.

It also urged the public to immediately report to the police or NBI any instance of forgery, use, or possession of the fictitious banknote, saying that criminal charges will be charged against the persons involved.

On Friday, a post about a P10,000 banknote was being circulated on Facebook saying it was just released by the BSP.
