Netizen claims to have received P100 bill with two faces of Manuel Roxas
A certain Emmanuel Claudio Constantino claimed to have received a P100 banknote misprinted with the face of the late President Manuel Roxas printed on both sides of the bill.
On Dec. 31, 2017, Constantino posted on his Facebook page the P100 bill with the face of the late President Manuel Roxas printed not only on the oberse side but also the reverse side over the image of Mayon Volcano.
“Naisukli lang po samin sa palengke... Tandang Sora,” Constantino said in a separate Facebook personal message to GMA News Online on Wednesday. “Itatabi na lang po siguro namin ito. Isa lang namn po kaya ‘di po siguro namin irerepport sa BSP,” he said.
Constantino, 21, said he works as a real estate agent. He said he bought sparklers for the New Year ’s Eve celebration of greeting 2018 when he received the misprinted P100 bill.
In a separate text message to GMA News Online, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo said the misprinted bills are under investigation.
“All the reported cases of alleged misprints are now being investigated. Will share findings in due time,” he said.
The BSP has urged the public earlier not to post photos of misprinted bills on social media, as this may “cast doubt” on the credibility of the legal tender.
Should the public find misprinted banknotes, the BSP said such bills should be immediately turned over to its offices or any regional branches for authentication.
GMA News Online has contacted the BSP to shed light on this latest development regarding misprinted P100 bills, but officials have not responded as of this posting.
Previously, another netizen posted photos of “faceless” P100 bills minus the image of President Manuel Roxas, which she supposedly withdrew from an automated teller machine the Bank of the Philippine Islands last month.
The central bank said the faceless bills were the result of a glitch in printing, and that there were only 33 pieces involved or 0.00009 percent of the total banknotes in circulation. — VDS, GMA News
